Gavel clubs are very popular in Hong Kong high schools because they serve both as a speech class and leadership training opportunity. I found this Gavel club promotion from Singapore on YouTube and I would like to make Mercury Rising video and put it on YouKu and ZZConnect.
Jane Marie: "I got the idea from Sally and tegory’s Youth
Leadership Program and Fred, a Hong Kong Toastmaster and public high
school principal, who uses both YLP and Gavel to teach communication and
leadership skills to teenagers. The school, in our case the Sino-US Program
pays a one-time charter fee of $50 and $48 a year thereafter. The students needn't pay any dues but collect monies for any group activities."
Mercury Rising Gavel club meets at #47 High School on Friday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Please contact janekennedy66@gmail.com for more information.
